The Exhibition: collaborations
The University of Studies of Milan
The University of Studies of Milan contributes teaching and historical material of two departments:
> Biology Department (Didactics Museum of Zoology)
> Agricultural Entomology Department (Regional Apiarian Laboratory)
Both departments provide a set of historical wall boards manufactured in the second half of the 19th century and used by students of those times for practicing. The boards are of immense historical value. The publishing house Hoepli has lately brought out the book entitled 'The Biology Department's Wall Boards', currently available at the Didactics Museum or purchasable in bookshops.
The Agricultural Entomology Department presents a set of wall boards that date back to the same historical period.
The Didactics Museum of Zoology also provides other findings of the second half of the 19th century coming from the Royal School of Agriculture of Milan. Those are dioramas that illustrate insect life cycles and environments as well as the damage they have caused to crops. The Museum and the Entomology Department's teaching activities also include the arrangement of a laboratory area for displaying insect boxes that supply further explanations for identifying insects in practice.
University of Studies of Pavia
The interest taken by Prof. Ugo Laudani of the former Entomology Department allows to display a number of dioramas depicting the anthills and termitaries belonging to the Department.
